Job summary
Applications are invited for a 12 month fixed term, Locum Consultant in Special Care Dentistry at the Royal National ENT and Eastman Dental Hospitals, part of the Specialist Hospitals Board of University College London Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.
The post sits within the Dental Medicine Department, which comprises Special Care Dentistry, Oral Medicine and Facial Pain. The Special Care Dental team delivers both outpatient and day stay care in all aspects of dental care for a complex cohort of patients. This service delivers both outpatient and day stay care in all aspects of dental care for a complex cohort of patients and has grown to meet the demands of the increasing population to which it serves. This includes Haemo-oncology, Dental Pathway to support Head and Neck Cancer patients, Inclusive dental pathway, Special Care Dentistry treatments including the use of behaviour management, sedation techniques and General Anaesthetic. The post is to maintain dental support for patients within these pathways and continue to meet the demand for Special Care Dental services.

Main duties of the job
Successful applicants will join an established team, working closely with the Clinical Lead in providing a wide range of specialist care and postgraduate training. Applicants will be expected to have excellent communication skills, be able to build effective working relationships at all levels, and also have experience in postgraduate teaching and training. An excellent working knowledge of infection control and health and safety issues is also required.
Applicants must have full current GDC registration and be on the GDC's Specialist register for Special Care Dentistry. Experience in dental sedation, as well as the management of medically compromised patients is required.
