We are delighted to be advertising a substantive post for an Academic Consultant Radiologist at University College London Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, specialising in urological imaging.
This full-time substantive NHS consultant post is a joint academic and clinical role, with a 50:50 time split. The post-holder will be accountable to the Divisional Clinical Director with academic leadership from The Head of the Centre of Medical Imaging. The post is within Dept. Radiology in the Imaging Division of the Surgery and Cancer Clinical Board.
The post holder will have an honorary appointment at UCL, Centre for Medical Imaging, Division of Medicine and will be expected to develop research themes within Uroradiology that complement their clinical work.
The post-holder must have sub-specialty experience in UroRadiology, as well as skills and experience in general radiology and oncology imaging in order to support the delivery of services at UCH. The Radiology Department is very active in both teaching and clinical innovation and the post-holder would be expected to participate in these.
Applicants should possess the FRCR or equivalent and be on the specialist register or within 6 months of obtaining their CCST.

Main duties of the job
The main duties of this post are as follows:
Perform all aspects of Urological Imaging including benign urology and cancer Imaging. This will include specialist MRI, CT, ultrasound and fluoroscopy.
- Develop the Radiology service under the guidance of the clinical leads.
- Participate in teaching and training
- Participate in audit
- Participate in the general radiology on-call service.
The academic component of the role will enable the candidate to setup and deliver a portfolio of Uroradiological research, predominantly focused on cancer. Participation with ongoing trails/studies in prostate cancer will be expected, together with establishing new research areas in bladder/renal and/or other organs will be strongly encouraged and supported.

The successful candidate will join a close team of UroRadiologists at UCLH: Dr Doug Pendse, Dr Clare Allen, Dr Alex Kirkham, Dr Chun Wah So, Dr Louise Dickinson, Dr Navin Ramachandran, Dr Francesco Giganti, Dr Conrad von Stempel and Dr Miles Walkden. There is a strong training element with rotating senior and junior registrars.

We focus on medical/clinical imaging and our portfolio spans cutting edge translational first in (hu)man interventions right through to leading pragmatic multi-centre trials of emerging and established imaging techniques within the NHS that ultimately change clinical practice. The UCL Centre for Medical Imaging (CMI) is a multidisciplinary group with an extensive track record of achieving substantial competitive research funding and publishing the results in high impact indexed journals.
