The Formulary & Medicines Management (FMM) consists of senior pharmacists who lead on co-ordination of the business of the Trust's Drug and Therapeutic Committee (locally referred to as Use of Medicines Committee (UMC)). The FMM team also work collaboratively with the Integrated Care System within North Central London (NCL) via the regional Joint Formulary Committee (JFC). The UMC works collaboratively with the JFC via a hub-and-spoke model.

We are looking for a dynamic and enthusiastic pharmacist, with the potential to perform at a high level, to join theFMM team for a 1-year fixed term.

We will provide you with a supportive, integrated and growing pharmacy team committed to delivering top quality patient care. You will have access to further educational opportunities and senior clinicians within Pharmacy and other disciplines who can provide mentorship and aid professional development.

Main duties of the job

The Senior Pharmacist for Medicines Information & Governance will be part of the FMM team, supporting the growing number and complexity of applications being reviewed by the UMC for new treatments including those for rare and refractory diseases, as well as contributing towards the wider medicines optimisation agenda being delivered across NCL. The post-holder will support speciality teams with the application process, review individual patient requests, support clinical audits on the use of medicines and maintain a database of local implementation of regional and nationally approved treatments.

The Senior Pharmacist for Research & Medicines Optimisation will also lead the Medicines Information (MI) service. The UCLH MI service provides a helpline on all aspects of medicines and related therapies to all UCLH patients and staff, using an extensive range of sources, which are regularly updated to provide the most up to date information available. The MI department also closely supports the Trust clinical governance, medicines management and patient safety agenda as well as working with other MI departments regionally and nationally.

  • Completion of an undergraduate degree in Pharmacy, registration with the General Pharmaceutical Council
  • Postgraduate qualification in clinical pharmacy or satisfactory evidence of equivalent competence as demonstrated in a practice portfolio of evidence
