o The post holder will be responsible for assessing patient's eligibility for hospital transport as set by NHS England.o As a Transport Assessment Officer you will be expected to maintain a customer focused approach while responding to patient queries and assisting with all transport related queries. You are required to build a positive outcome for all our transport patients.o This post will bring you into contact with Patients, relatives and Internal Staff, it is essential that you have excellent communication, listening and interpersonal skills.o This role offers a great opportunity for a self-motivated individual who is looking for variety and a degree of autonomy. As a member of the transport assessment team you will be required to undertake accurate and standardised assessment of patient's eligibility for non emergency patient transport (NEPTS) as set out by NHSE. You will work as part of the assessment team and in partnership with our transport provider to ensure patients journeys are planned and delivered in an effective and efficient way. You will be required to answer phone calls and emails pertaining to transport related queries.
Main duties of the job
As an Assessment Officer you will have a direct impact on patient experience and outcome which is essential to the functioning of the service. As a centre of excellence you will offer a person centred approach to patient's independence and well-being.
Provide a courteous and efficient Transport booking service to all users adhering to departmental guidelines. This will include working with patients, GP practices and all internal stakeholders to achieve a positive outcome for service users.
Assess patients against transport eligibility criteria by following the departmental procedureAnd advise patients of alternative methods to get to hospital if they do not meet the criteria.
Keep patients informed about their transport provision providing them the support they require.
Work together with our transport contract's staff and our transport liaison officer to provide a seamless transport service.
