Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen within UCLH's Cancer Clinical Trials Unit for a Laboratory Manager. The successful applicant will be part of the clinical research team undertaking trials within the CCTU. They will liaise closely with UCL Cancer Institute and NIHR UCLH CRF laboratory personnel and clinical trials coordinators and data managers within CCTU, undertaking pre-analytical duties of a medical technical officer (i.e. the receipt and preparation of samples prior to processing) in addition to responsibility for the day to day running of the CCTU laboratory.

Further duties will involve the training and oversight of the lab practice of the CCTU team, and liaising with outside institutions on the transport and safe storage of clinical trial samples moving between sites.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will help provide a full range of research administrative and support services to studies undertaken at UCLH.

The responsibility of the post holder will be to demonstrate good clinical laboratory practice (GCLP) and data collection is also expected to be undertaken in a way that allows information from sites to be pooled.
