UCLH is pleased to be seeking a new Locum Consultant to join our dynamic and vibrant Head & Neck team. We are offering a 12-month Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery (OMFS) Locum Consultant position, with a special interest in Head & Neck Surgical Oncology.
The post holder will have a commitment to providing the highest quality patient care, innovative service models, and excellence in education and research. The successful candidate will have a primary interest in OMFS Head & Neck Surgery and will be expected to play a key role in the continuation of developing a world class Head & Neck centre at UCLH.

Main duties of the job
This is a full time post (10 PAs) which entails major input into the care of OMFS Head & Neck oncology patients across UCLH. The post-holder will agree a detailed job plan including personal and professional objectives once in post, involving elective theatre and outpatient sessions.
Our unit offers services in Head & Neck, ENT and OMFS Surgery. UCLH offers specialist services providing treatment for benign and malignant conditions of the Head & Neck region. The service sees around 3,000 new patients per year, 350 non-elective cases and approximately 450 new Head & Neck cancers per year across our network sites. This provides excellent opportunities for research and audit.
The postholder will be expected to play a key role in providing exemplary patient care at UCLH as part of the NEL/NCL Head & Neck Surgical Elective Hub. The role is included in a 1:7 on-call rota which includes weekend / out of hours.

The post-holder is expected to take a lead in advancing early diagnostic cancer clinics across the UCLH network, ensuring prompt and effective patient care. They will provide essential guidance and mentorship to junior staff, reinforcing the backbone of our cancer service. The appointee will actively contribute to the Head & Neck Department's postgraduate meetings, as well as engaging in audit and governance. Demonstrate a strong commitment to elevating governance standards is essential.
The appointee will actively contribute to improvements in the department through monthly Consultant Meetings and other forums. The appointee will have a duty of care to patients and is expected to comply fully with best practice standards. You have a responsibility to comply with Trust policies for personal and patient safety and for prevention of healthcare-associated infection. Knowledge, skills and behaviour in the workplace should reflect this.
