Job summary

Main duties of the job

We are looking for motivated, enthusiastic and experienced staff nurses to join our Paediatric and Adolescent Day care unit. You will be required to demonstrate experience and skills in this area and have leadership, development and organisation skills in order to coordinate safe efficient delivery of care to this patient group. UCLH is committed to providing excellent care to children and young people. We have a dedicated multidisciplinary team providing care for young people and operate the largest clinical service for teenagers in Europe.You must have a passion and an understanding for working with Children and Young People.

Knowledge and Qualifications

Essential

  • Registered Nurse Part 1, 2 or relevant section of the register (Adult or Paediatric)
  • Accredited teaching course
  • Relevant Teaching course

Desirable

  • BSc or working towards
  • Attained Bachelor Degree in Nursing or working towards it.

Experience

Essential

  • 4 years clinical experience as Band 5 or 6 nurse within an acute Adult/Adolescent/Paediatric specialty (or equivalent)
  • Proficient in education, administration and IV support skills
  • Experience of phlebotomy and cannulation
  • Proficient in advanced IV administration
  • Proficient in performing Endocrine dynamic function Tests

Communication

Essential

  • Communicates effectively verbally, in writing and in electronic formats

SPECIFIC REQUIREMENTS

  • Able to articulate and specify reasons for choosing to work with Paediatrics and Adolescents patients.
