Job summary
The primary responsibilities of the post holder are to care for patients with general urology complaints including but not exclusively LUTS and BPH, within UCLH at Westmoreland Street and North Central London network, this will be executed by participating as an active member of the senior nursing team. The post holder's primary areas of responsibility are to patients within the Urology pathway. The post holder's secondary area of responsibility is ensuring the provision of effective, and evidence based urology nursing care at UCLH alongside partners at specialist sites.
The CNP will work alongside and support the education and development of both junior nursing and trainee medical/scientific colleagues. The CNP will be responsible for data collection, monitoring patient outcomes and annual audit.
Main duties of the job
This CNP will be an experienced nurse, specifically working autonomously with patients during the referral, diagnostic and treatment pathway for elective surgery and conservative management of their urology conditions. This role will cross professional boundaries, including undertaking, interpreting and reporting the findings of diagnostic tests. The CNP will be a role model of excellence in the delivery of holistic care to patients with urology conditions across the hospital Trust and into the wider community and nationally.
The post holder is required to deliver clinical excellence and evidence based expert care in pelvic health, line with Trust guidance and in keeping with both NICE guidelines and the UCLH Trust values. Working within agreed protocols and guidelines the CNP exercises independent judgement to assess, investigate, plan, implement and evaluate the clinical care and management of patients with Urology conditions, in close conjunction and collaboration with other members of the multidisciplinary team (MDT).
The CNP practises both autonomously and in partnership with the multidisciplinary team under the clinical supervision provided by the Consultants within the Urology department. The care is delivered in nurse led outpatient clinics, multidisciplinary clinics, to inpatients, community (remote) triage and diagnostic centres.
