Job summary

University College London Hospitals is seeking to appoint a full-time Senior Clinical Epilepsy Nurse Specialist with a commitment to high quality patient care, innovative service models, delivery of performance targets, and excellence in education/training.

The Senior Epilepsy Nurse Specialist will lead the team of 4 epilepsy nurse specialists, ensuring they are able and equipped to meet the needs of all patients with epilepsy and make certain that patients receive timely and appropriate, high-quality care. The post is located at the National Hospital for Neurology and Neurosurgery and Chalfont Centre for epilepsy in Chalfont St Peter.

The post is offered on a full time basis and provides an opportunity to join a dynamic, expanding department and to contribute to the multidisciplinary care of patients with epilepsy.

Main duties of the job

The focus of this role is to ensure that people with epilepsy receive the best possible care, underpinned by appropriate, evidence-based practice. The post holder should have quality improvement experience as they will lead the development of preconception clinics and the improvement of antenatal care.

The Senior Clinical Nurse Specialist is responsible for monitoring and ensuring the patient experience across epilepsy service is of the highest possible standard at all times with particular emphasis on safety, dignity and compassion. The post holder is expected to work with the multidisciplinary epilepsy team and will be expected to develop close links with all members of the team.

The appointee will be expected to participate in all activities of the Department including teaching, clinical audit and research. They will be required to undertake clinical management duties and work effectively in a multidisciplinary team and to demonstrate clinical leadership.
