Job summary

We are looking to recruit a research clinical nurse into our Upper GI trials unit under the supervision of Professor Lovat, Professor of Gastroenterology.

The postholder will be part of researching cutting edge innovation at UCLH, working alongside a multi-disciplinary team.

The postholder will support the recruitment of patients into studies and trials involving the use of artificial intelligence (AI) in endoscopic detection and diagnosis for colorectal cancers, oesophageal cancer and Crohn's disease.

The funding for this post is renewed each April so although this fixed term post is only guaranteed until the end of March 2024, we expect the funding to be extended.

Main duties of the job

The post will involve working with the Senior Research Nurse, current research fellows, clinical trials practitioners and coordinators, other research nurses and other staff in developing the Gastrointestinal Services research support team and also alongside relevant clinicians.

Responsibilities will include a variety of duties including helping to screen and recruit patients, supporting the care of patients on trials and the collection and preparation of samples and collection of trial data.

Working with clinicians, clinical trials staff, statisticians and the public, it provides world class research, high quality patient care and has been awarded medical excellence awards for teaching in endoscopy.

The NIHR funded PSRC has an innovation theme to improve patient safety in hospitals. The precise nature of the work is still being developed.
