I'm pleased to announce that an exciting position has opened up as a Band 6 Associate CNS within the Charles Dent Metabolic Unit.This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Band 5 or above to get experience into the clinical nurse specialist role.If you are a highly motivated and enthusiastic nurse with significant clinical experience at Band 5 or above, this post will give you an exciting opportunity to join a pioneering service which is expanding and developing new areas of treatment and research.
Main duties of the job
- To work according to the NMC Code of Conduct and other professional guidelines.
- To act as a 'key worker' providing expert face to face and virtual support advice, information and education to patients and their families with Metabolic disorders.
- To provide support to the metabolic nursing team with the clinical workload and to be responsible for ensuring the provision of high standard, holistic patient centred care.
- To be accountable for co-ordinating patient care and to contribute to the management of resources within the Metabolic unit.
- To administer care in either outpatient or inpatient setting, in collaboration with the wider multidisciplinary team.
- To promote and participate in the implementation of the UCLH Nursing & Midwifery strategy and Core Standards and contribute towards achieving the Trust's "Top 10" Objectives To maintain a visible presence in the ward / outpatient department
- To attend multidisciplinary clinics (consultant lead) and hold telephone clinics with support of the unit clinical nurses specialists to review, monitor and support patients.
- To participate in clinical audits, quality and risk management initiatives to ensure clinical excellence.
- To represent the Metabolic Unit at internal and external meetings.
- Maintain effective communication with stakeholders, patients, families, friends and carers.
