Job summary
We are seeking an energetic, enthusiastic, highly skilled consultant with broad experience in paediatric endocrinology to join our team at University College London Hospitals (UCLH) in order to provide a General Paediatric Endocrine service. This is a 8 PA post with no on-call commitment.
We would expect the consultant to have or develop a sub-speciality interest in endocrinology that complements the current interests within our department, such as puberty disorders, pituitary, adrenal, puberty or reproductive endocrinology disorders, the endocrine component of the NHS England specialist gender dysphoria services for children and young people (previously GIDS) and/or the Diabetes service.

Main duties of the job
The appointee will be expected to participate in teaching activities on the UCH site, liaise with the GOSH teaching and training lead. and will be responsible for educational supervision of trainees.
They will be expected to contribute to service development, audit and to various management and governance activities within the department.

UCLH provides a busy paediatric and adolescent endocrine and diabetes service for local residents, those from London and South East as well as tertiary adolescent referrals from a wider geographical area. The service also incorporates endocrine liaison clinics for the NHS England specialist gender dysphoria services for children and young people. Annual outpatient attendances total 3,000 for the Paediatric Diabetes Service and 3,500 for the Endocrine practice and 600 GIDS attendances. The appointee will be part of a dynamic department with great opportunities for training, education and leadership and research. The Paediatric and Adolescent Endocrinology Department at UCLH forms a partnership with the Paediatric Endocrinology Department at Great Ormond Street Hospital to provide a seamless transition of care to children and adolescents. Training and education is developed jointly across the two sites, and there are opportunities to collaborate closely with the Endocrinology team at GOSH in terms of research, education and clinical care.
We are developing innovative integrated approaches to clinical care with partner organisations outside the hospital. A new Electronic Health Record System offers exciting opportunities in both quality improvement and research.
