Job summary

The haematology department at UCLH, are excited to advertise for the role of Senior Data Manager. The successful candidate will lead the Data Management team responsible for Chimeric Antigen Receptor Cell Therapy (CAR-T) service; Bone Marrow Transplant (BMT) service and Red Cell service alongside The Red Cell Network (TCRN).

The successful candidate will have the opportunity to shape the future of services and patient care by producing and presenting high quality data. The role provides the opportunity to develop your skills in collecting, analysing, and disseminating data into actionable insights which support service development and improve patient outcomes; drive and maintain robust databases that underpin data-driven initiatives and develop innovative ways of streamlining and improving processes.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will be responsible for overseeing the data management team for UCLH, and for the data management function of TRCN.The main duties of the Senior Data Manager are:

Communication and representation

  • Represent data management services to internal and external stakeholder.
  • Develop the team's data capabilities to provide meaningful insights to clinicians and service management.
  • Document data management processes, roles, responsibilities, and schedules.

Reporting and Analysis

  • Provide data for internal and external stakeholders, including nationally mandated returns.

Information Systems and Data Management

  • Develop existing processes to improve data management capacity.
  • Drive improvement in quality and completeness in existing data sets.
  • Own, maintain and develop our standing datasets.
  • Monitor the collection of data and data entry, including patient annual reviews, for the National Haemoglobinopathy Registry across TRCN.
  • Monitor, plan for and manage data submissions for internal and external bodies such as EBMT.

Research and Service Development

  • Collaborate with other data managers, EBMT and TRCN to promote consistency.
  • Contribute to the development of haemoglobinopathy data management services within the Trust, HCC and nationally.

People Management /Performance

  • Manager and lead the performance of the team
  • Coordinate and oversee data reporting across TRCN, liaising with relevant operational managers as necessary
