Job summary
This post offers specialist experience in acute medicine combined with substantial education and teaching opportunities. The objective is to give the fellow protected time and mentorship to pursue teaching and a variety of educational projects. 50% of this post will be focused on clinical service provision and 50% on education.
This post is not formally recognised for training but applicants holding a National Training Number (NTN) can apply for OOPT/E using the recognised approval processes. The role is also open to applicants without an NTN.
Main duties of the job
Acute Medicine is a large department with a great number of trainees rotating through every year. Trainees include Foundation Year 1 and 2 doctors, Internal Medicine Trainees, Acute Care Common Stem trainees and GP trainees. The medical education fellow would support these trainees by organising the daily AMU teaching programme, organising and facilitating PACES teaching, providing workplace-based assessments and feedback to trainees on the acute medical take, and delivering all clinical teaching within the department. This post is a fantastic opportunity to really make a difference to a large number doctors in training at UCLH.

Delivering teaching on chosen topics in acute medicine as desired. Supporting and training trainee doctors approaching their PACES exam. Mentoring and assisting trainees who require extra support.
Developing as a simulation facilitator and attending regular IMT and Foundation Year simulation training days as faculty.
