Job summary

A new and exciting opportunity has arisen within the Women's Health Division for a highly motivated, enthusiastic, and vibrant individual to join our management team.

We are looking for a full time Service Manager who will support the London Complex Mesh Centre team in the day-to-day delivery of outpatient and surgical services to ensure there is high quality patient care for the patients within the service.

Main duties of the job

The Service Manager for Complex Mesh reports to the Deputy General Manager and leads the administrative teams. The post-holder has the following responsibilities:

  • Responsible for the day-to-day operational management and quality improvement of the Complex mesh service.
  • Provide line management support to the LCMC MDT Coordinator and the LCMC Admin Team Leader, who in turn supports the two Admin Coordinators.
  • Support clinical teams to resolve any operational issues which arise, including but not limited to problems involving theatre operating lists, staffing, outpatient clinic cover, equipment, and patient-related queries.
  • Accountability for the performance of the admin team, which includes booking of all new and follow-up appointments, clinical and MDT outcomes, plus ensuring clinic slots are fully utilised correctly and are of the right modality (e.g. face-to-face vs telephone).
  • Supporting the delivery of performance targets including activity performance such as RTT and workforce, and others as applicable.
  • Managing and developing inpatient and outpatient pathways alongside the wider MDT to ensure continuous improvement, taking a lead to implement improvements with the support of the Deputy General Manager.
  • Working closely with the relevant Clinical Lead(s) to provide strategic direction and leadership to ensure services continue to improve and develop.

About us

UCLH is one of a limited number of specialist centres commissioned by NHSE to treat women experiencing pelvic mesh complications. The centre is commissioned to treat patients living in London and the South-East of England. The successful candidate will be joining a busy and fast paced service and will have the opportunity to work with a range of multidisciplinary staff, both clinical and operational, from different departments within the Trust. The service has a wide MDT including, but not limited to:

  • Urogynaecology surgeons
  • Urological surgeons
  • Colorectal surgeons
  • Psychology
  • Pain management specialists
  • Physiotherapists
  • Specialist nursing

The successful applicant will be self-motivated, have excellent interpersonal skills and be patient focused.
