Clinical Nurse Specialist for the Brain Tumour Service at NHNN/ UCLH
Band 7, 22.5 hours per week , (Wednesday Thursday Friday)
The Brain Tumour service is seeking an experienced and highly motivated Band 7 Clinical Nurse Specialist, to work within the well-established Clinical Nurse Specialist team. The service is based at the National Hospital for Neurology and Neurosurgery, but the post holder will be required to work across UCLH sites to support patients throughout their pathway.
Main duties of the job
The successful applicant must be motivated and enthusiastic about the specialist care needs of this patient group. They should be an outstanding communicator, able to demonstrate first-rate organisational and multitasking skills and have the ability to prioritise effectively and efficiently in a busy and fast paced work environment. The successful applicant must demonstrate an ability to support, teach, develop and educate others and possess good leadership skills. They should be able to work well autonomously and as part of a strong multidisciplinary team in order to deliver and maintain a high quality of care.
Potential candidates should have recent experience in an acute Neurosurgery setting, Neuro-Oncology setting or a cancer site that has exposure to brain metastases. The successful individual will have a role in contributing to the delivery of the Trust Objectives as well as objectives for this Brain Tumour Service ensuring that the care delivered reflects the Trust Vision and Values.

It is an exciting time to be involved with this expanding team of very experienced Clinical Nurse Specialists where Nurse Led services are being developed within this dynamic multidisciplinary team, such as Nurse Led follow up and pre surgical clinics and where services are always being developed to improve the management pathway of this group of patients.

Together we are a major international centre for neuroscience training and research.
The Brain Tumour Unit (BTU) was set up in 2008 as a beacon for the support and care of patients with brain and rare CNS tumours and a hub for specialist care. It was designed to have a dedicated team of highly specialist therapists and Clinical Nurse Specialists who are experienced in the treatment of patients with brain and rare CNS tumours, who work alongside other allied health professional teams providing a holistic package of care.
