Job summary
The person appointed to this post will have significant experience of physiological measurement. They must be skilled in interacting with patients, in particular the outpatient context.
A working knowledge of disorders of sleep and respiration is essential, and an understanding of equipment used to monitor and treat patients with OSA is mandatory.
Main duties of the job
They will be well organised and able to work on own initiative and without supervision. They will have good time management skills and prioritise and manage own workload. They will be flexible and able to adjust commitments when required and work to deadlines. On a day-to-day basis they must be able to swap between the various demands of the job, as the situation requires (for example to provide CPAP patient support while undertaking sleep studies). The appointee should be proficient in the use of Windows based PC systems and be able to use Excel and Word to set up documents, record and extract information and write reports. Knowledge of networking would be an advantage.
We require someone who will be happy to work flexibly as a member of a small team. They must also be able to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, with diverse groups in the Trust, Medical School and the commercial arena. They will also be required to teach and train others, including other staff groups, on highly specialist subjects.
Continuing professional development is actively encouraged for all staff. It may be possible for the person appointed to continue a programme of study for further qualification, especially in order to enhance professional knowledge and skills, depending on the demands of routine service.

The Trust is a major provider of healthcare in North London. The Sleep Study Unit is responsible for sleep diagnostics and therapy services on the RNENT&EDH site, including CPAP clinics and carrying out overnight polysomnography and home sleep studies.
The RNENT&EDH is closely associated with sleep services within Respiratory Medicine - UCH, National Hospital for Neurology & Neurosurgery.
