Job summary
The Patient Emergency Response and Resuscitation Team (PERRT) at University College Hospital comprises critical care outreach and resuscitation practitioners who provide a 24/7 service to critically ill and deteriorating patients, alongside delivery of established and novel education programmes, quality improvement and patient safety initiatives across the Trust.
This nurse-led team is well established and held in high regard within UCLH, and provides a nursing career development pathway through bands 6 to 8; developing PERRT [advanced] practitioners to support the needs of at risk patients and the staff caring for them.
Main duties of the job
The PERRT role is suitable for motivated individuals with strong leadership skills and extensive critical care experience.
The PERRT role whilst busy and challenging is incredibly rewarding and stimulating. This role offers a fantastic opportunity for motivated individuals who wish to become experts in leading the management of deteriorating patients across the organisation.
The PERRT team and its leadership are hugely committed to getting the best out of our team members and nurturing their growth and development. With this in mind we have a structured development plan which will facilitate your learning, developing your clinical, leadership and educational skills, supported by the MDT.

- RGN, RN or equivalent professional qualification
- Honours degree in relevant subject
- 3 years' experience at senior band 6 level (clinical and leadership).
- Advanced physical assessment course (Masters level)
- Recognised mentorship/ teaching course.
- Relevant post qualification clinical course (intensive care )
- Masters degree or on Masters pathway / willingness to undertake
