The London Ambulance Service is currently recruiting an Infection Prevention and Control Practitioner to join their pro-active Infection Control Team.

The IPC Practitioner supports implementation of the Trust's commitment to provide safe, effective and efficient care to patients and ensure the well-being of its staff by delivering a comprehensive Infection Prevention and Control service.

Main duties of the job

The candidate for this post will have experience within an Infection Prevention & Control setting and a desire to progress their training within this field. This role aids to ensure the annual work programme is delivered through a robust auditing, escalation and assurance process. They will inspire and motivate others and, act as a role model and a professional source of advice for staff and external colleagues when required.

  • Be a role model for infection prevention and control practice, ensuring that both Trust policy and CQC compliance standards are upheld.

  • Identify, report and escalate IPC risks as well as updating and reviewing incidents on Datix.
  • Contribute to developing training packages and communications, to be pitched to a variety of audiences both internal and external.

Essential

  • Infection Prevention and Control (IPC) degree module or equivalent experience
  • Minimum of 2 years working as a registered nurse, paramedic, or allied healthcare professional
  • Teaching qualification and experience of teaching

Desirable

  • Other healthcare qualifications such as an advanced specialist healthcare qualification and healthcare experience

  • Experience of working in health care in any setting relevant to the role
  • Experience in policy development and procedures
  • Experience of developing, conducting, analysing and reporting trends from IPC audits; taking action as appropriate
  • Experience of producing training materials and information leaflets
