Job summary
The Supply & Distribution department of the London Ambulance Service has invested in a new warehouse, inventory system and team structure to support one of the busiest ambulance services in the world.
The department is responsible for the supply of medical consumables, equipment and medicines packs to ensure frontline vehicles are stocked and available to respond to emergency calls. As a Warehouse & Delivery Operative you will play a key role in supporting frontline operations.
Your role will be split between warehouse and driving duties and we need people with warehouse and driving experience who can work efficiently and effectively to meet deadlines.
You will be expected to work a rotating shift pattern covering 7 days per week, 52 weeks per year including Bank Holidays. Shifts will run from our Rainham and Hither Green sites. You will be required to work from both sites.

Main duties of the job
The main duties of the Warehouse & Delivery Operative are:

o Routinely undertake warehouse duties in a safe, effective and efficient manner, commensurate with the post, as directed by warehouse Team Leader
o All post holders will be expected to be proactive in identifying service development opportunities within the warehouse and distribution environment.
o Undertake all driving duties associated with the delivery and collection of equipment, medical consumables and PPE
o Undertake the delivery and collection of medicines across the trust in accordance with the legal requirements for the transportation of controlled drugs.
o Use technology to "book in" consumables and equipment using the stock management system.
o Undertake all statutory and mandatory training in line with trust policy.

The post holder will be required to assist in the preparation of essential products and equipment for delivery; checking they are correctly picked, packed and ready for distribution in a timely and effective manner.
Move stock around the warehouse to ensure maximum efficiency and to ensure stock is rotated to prevent waste. Use plant machinery if qualified to do so such as a reach truck and/or fork lift.
They will aid in the maintenance of an accurate stock control system within the warehouse, ensuring that products and equipment are labelled and stored in the correct place.
They will support by undertaking an accurate stock level by recording movements in and out of the warehouse.
The post holder will be required to complete deliveries to LAS premises on a scheduled and ad-hoc basis and use technology to scan in items for end to end stock tracking and management.

- Full manual driving licence (no more than 3 penalty points)
- GCSE Maths & English D-E or 2-3 grades (and above) or Functional Skills Level 1 (or equivalent level by experience in a similar role).
- Fork Lift & reach truck licence holder or be willing to work towards gaining licence (City & Guilds Fork Lift truck Operations or equivalent Level 2)
