Job summary

The Director of Technology Services is responsible & accountable for all information and technology systems across the trust.

This role is pivotal in providing the trust with industry-leading expertise in the management of complex and large-scale technology services that can be used to support. They will be instrumental in bringing improvements by way of technical design,process design and review to ensure appropriate availability and resilience of the Trust'sdigital infrastructureThey will be seen as an expert in their field and will develop relationships that enhances the LAS' reputation for evidence based progress which supports the wider healthcare system for the benefit of our patients, our staff and our organisation.

Main duties of the job

The Director has responsibility for:

  • Operating the day to day Digital ITfunction. This includes the delivery of information management and technology servicesacross the Trust that is aligned to the strategic objectives and ambitions of the LAS;ensuring that the LAS business and clinical needs are reflected in our technologyapplications and services, now and in the future; and that innovation is brought into theTrust to promote productivity and performance.
  • The day to day leadership of the IT Directorate, ensuring that the team is enabled, capable and skilled to deliver highly complex systems and services across the Trusts that are effective, efficient, safe, consistent and fit for purpose.
  • Driving improvements by way of technical design, process design and review to ensure appropriate availability and resilience of the Trust'sdigital infrastructure ensuring it is cost effective and in-line with industry best practice.
  • The post holder will need to ensure that the team understands the critical importance ofIT to the organisation and the wider London community, which it serves.
  • Working closely with the CDO the post holder will help identify and shape the Trust'sfuture technology requirements and operating models (including decisions on in sourcing/ outsourcing) to ensure the overall efficiency and effectiveness of the Trust's IT servicedelivery.

Qualifications

Essential

  • A Master's degree level qualification or appropriate comparable experience
  • Leadership and management qualifications or substantial senior level experience in a complex IT organisation delivering significant and successful change programmes
  • Evidence of up-to-date personal and professional development
  • Formal Industry certification is e.g. ITIL, PRINCE2

Desirable

  • MBA or equivalent post-graduate management qualifications or appropriate experience

  • Extensive experience of working close to Board Level in a senior management role, in health and/ or other comparable private or public sector services, with a proven track record demonstrating successful strategic planning and implementation across this field
  • Evidence of significant and measurable outcomes and achievements at both strategic and operational level that impact positively on organisational objectives and patient care
  • Proven IT specialist experience with the appetite for driving excellence and efficiency
  • Proven experience of managing and motivating diverse teams to achieve high levels of performance
