Job summary

We have an exciting opportunity for a public affairs specialist to shape how the world's busiest ambulance service engages with its wide-reaching group of stakeholders.

London Ambulance Service's Stakeholder Communications Manager will play a leading role in creating and strengthening the Service's engagement with groups including Members of Parliament, our NHS partners and local authorities.

Holding an important role at the only NHS provider serving the whole of London, the post-holder will explore opportunities to secure support for the Trust and its impactful campaigns among stakeholders.

The Stakeholder Communications Manager will support the delivery of the Service's newly-launched five-year strategy, while working closely with our executive team and clinicians from across the Service to promote the Trust's work.

The post-holder will work as part of the Service's communications team, collaborating with and leading colleagues across all disciplines on long-term campaigns and fast-paced responsive work.

Main duties of the job

  • Manage and monitor relationships between London Ambulance Service and its stakeholders, working with the support of the Head of Stakeholder, Senior Stakeholder Communications Manager and Senior Stakeholder Communications Officer.
  • Identify and create opportunities to strengthen the engagement of stakeholders in London Ambulance Service's work and campaigns.
  • Support and advise the Service's senior management and executive team on stakeholder relations, delivering timely and thorough briefings and guidance as required.
  • Lead Parliamentary and policy monitoring, identifying appropriate sources, following the news agenda in a timely way and sharing information and recommendations for action to ensure senior managers are well informed.
  • Manage visits from stakeholders to London Ambulance Service sites, working closely with the executive team in the planning and organisation of visits from high-profile guests including MPs and ministers.
  • Ensure stakeholder requests for briefings on London Ambulance Service's work are delivered effectively and to deadline.
  • Deputise for the Head of Stakeholder and Senior Stakeholder Communications Manager when required.
  • Work in collaboration with colleagues across the communications team to support the delivery of events and capitalize on media opportunities.

  • Working in teams to influence external NHS (or similar other setting) systems leaders. Briefing internal and external stakeholders.
