Job summary

  • The post holder will have responsibility for the senior clinical leadership, governance and development of the London Ambulance Service (LAS) Specialist Paramedic-Primary Care (SP-PC) and Urgent Community Response (UCR) Car programme

  • Service development activity will comprise a significant part of the role, including horizon scanning to continually inform clinical practice and ensure adherence to national guidance as well as identifying new opportunities for further clinical development. The post holder will be expected to promote the SP-PC role and UCR cars both internally and to external stakeholders to promote collaborative working.

Main duties of the job

  • The Clinical Practice Development Manager will continue to provide expert clinical practice as an advanced/specialist practitioner. This will include regular clinical operational time as both as solo-responder working at an advanced/specialist practice level and providing support and mentorship to Clinical Supervisors, SP-PC and UCR clinicians. Working in conjunction with Consultant Paramedics and Assistant Medical Directors, they will take a lead in developing SP-PC and the UCR car service clinically, including recruiting and inducting these staff

Essential

  • Master's degree in advanced clinical practice or equivalent clinical discipline
  • Extensive portfolio of continuing professional development consistent with Health Education England Advanced Practice definitions or equivalent
  • Extensive recent experience and evidence of working as an autonomous practitioner at an advanced/specialist clinical practice level incorporating an expanded scope of practice.
  • Experience of providing clinical supervision in an advanced/specialist practice setting
  • Line management or team leadership experience
  • Teaching experience to including planning, delivery and assessment of education.
  • Conducting clinical audit, evaluation and/or research in a clinical setting
  • Experience of developing clinical services including care pathways and guidelines.
  • Pharmacological knowledge incorporating legal and regulatory aspects of medicines management and use of an expanded formulary including patient group directions.
  • Demonstrable ability to employ a range of management and leadership skills in clinical and operational settings
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills including the ability to present confidently to a range of audiences.
  • Highly developed organisational skills with an ability to prioritise work and deliver outcomes in line with work plans
  • Ability to work to deadlines and produce a high calibre of work under pressure
