Job summary
This is an opportunity to join the finance team of the London Ambulance Service Trust (LAS), one of the largest and busiest ambulance services in the world.
The role of Working Capital Manager sits at the heart of the finance team, working with colleagues, outsourced providers, and the wider Trust to ensure we collect cash due for work done and enabling timely payment to our suppliers.
You don't have to be a qualified accountant for this role as having a proactive and goal focused mind set is the most important quality. But the LAS is committed to supporting you in delivering your day to day work and to professionally develop.
Main duties of the job
No working day will be the same.
The Working Capital Manager will:
Work with senior LAS management, including the Chief Financial Officer, to set short, medium, and long term high performing working capital targets. These will include reducing and eliminating aged debt; meeting and exceeding the Trust's Better Payment Practise target; maximising interest earned from cash balances.
Use their experience and skills to gather, understand, present, and analyse data to focus on the key working capital risks of the Trust and the impediments to achieving our targets.
Contract manage external service providers to ensure they provide the service the Trust pays for: coach and lead the Working Capital Team so they can deliver excellent work, help meet our targets, and be professionally fulfilled.
Always be professionally sceptical and aware to the risk of fraud. The Working Capital Manager must keep themselves up to date and aware of potential frauds faced by the Trust and ensure the LAS's controls, polices, and procedures minimise the risk of fraud occurring.
About us
London Ambulance Service NHS Trust is the busiest ambulance Trust in the UK. We are seeking someone who will fit with the Trust values of Caring, Respect and Teamwork.
