London's Air Ambulance Paramedic Senior Clinical Lead,Fulltime secondment opportunity
We are seeking an exceptional paramedic to provide clinical and strategic leadership at London's Air Ambulance (LAA). This opportunity is available to LAS employees as a full-time secondment and to external candidates as a fixed term contract, for up to for three years.
The successful applicant will have previous experience as a London's Air Ambulance HEMS paramedic as well as experience in other specialist, advanced or extended roles.
LAS applicants must discuss their application with their Line Manager to ensure they support the application and will release you for the duration of the secondment. At the shortlisting stage of the process a reference request will be sent to your authorising manager to confirm this.
Due to the HEMS insurance restrictions, you must be 25 years or over by the advert closing date and not have more than three penalty points on your driving licence.

Main duties of the job
Paramedic Senior Clinical Lead
Key objectives for the role include responsibility for the day-to-day clinical management, governance and development of the Joint LAS/LAA/Bart's-Health tripartite HEMS Paramedic programme, supporting the delivery of clinical governance and service development, and the provision of senior clinical input across the tripartite.
The role is funded by LAA charity and employed by LAS, and reports jointly to the LAA Medical Director and the LAS Clinical Operations Lead (APPs & HEMS). Successful candidates will be paid at the relevant AFC Band 8b spine point, 20% inner high cost area supplement. The working pattern and hours will be a mixture of clinical and non-clinical duties, including weekends and nights where required to deliver the objectives of the role. Flexibility, self-direction and a willingness to ensure effective prioritisation of tasks and workload will be essential. This will include experience of training and supervising paramedics, as well as a broad range of skills and knowledge in clinical leadership, governance, education and service development. The successful applicant will provide leadership and management of the paramedic group, including of the band 7 lead HEMS paramedics, and will be expected to demonstrate clinical leadership across the service.

- The role of the Paramedic Senior Clinical Lead is to ensure that the highest standard of patient care is delivered via effective clinical leadership and supervision. As part of the senior clinical team within the Londons Air Ambulance (LAA), they will provide leadershipand supervision of clinical staff and lead on the implementation of developments in clinical care. They will assist in the professional development of the paramedic workforce and provide senior clinical advice to junior colleagues.
- The post holder will have responsibility for the day-to-day clinical management, governance and development of the Joint LAS/LAA/Barts-Health tripartite Flight Paramedic programme.Providing supervision and mentorship of the appointed LAA Paramedic Leadership team and working collaboratively with the London Ambulance Service (LAS) Consultant Paramedics and Clinical Operations Managers.
- The post holder will develop and be accountable for the educational activity within the LAA Flight Paramedic programme to include the provision of high quality teaching, assessment and evaluation. They will also act as a point of liaison with higher education institutions and other national bodies as required.
- Service development activity will comprise a significant part of the role, including horizon scanning to continually inform clinical practice and ensure adherence to national guidance as well as identifying new opportunities for further clinical development. The post holderwill be expected to promote the LAA Flight Paramedic role both internally and to external stakeholders to promote collaborative working.
- Paramedic Senior Clinical Lead (LAA) will continue to provide elevated clinical practice as a Flight Paramedic, LAS clinician and develop their own advanced clinical portfolio. This must include regular clinical operational time, providing support and mentorship to all clinical/medical staff within the LAA/LAS.
