Job summary

The London Ambulance Service (LAS) are investing into the new Supply & Distribution department which will give the LAS a brand new warehouse, brand new asset management system and a new team structure to support one of the busiest ambulance service in the world.

The role of the Warehouse & Delivery Operative is to assist in the preparation of essential products and equipment for delivery; checking they are correctly picked, packed and ready for distribution in a timely and effective manner. You will be required to move stock around the warehouse to ensure maximum efficiency and to ensure stock is rotated to prevent waste. Use plant machinery if qualified to do so such as a reach truck and/or fork lift.

You will be required to complete deliveries to LAS premises across Greater London on a scheduled and ad-hoc basis and use technology to scan in items for end to end stock tracking and management.

Main duties of the job

Warehouse and Delivery Operative

  • Undertake all driving duties associated with the delivery and collection of equipment.
  • Undertake the delivery and collection of medicines across the trust in accordance with the legal requirements for the transportation of controlled drugs.
  • Use technology to book in medicines, consumables and equipment using the stock management system
  • Undertake all statutory and mandatory training in line with trust policy.

About us

Applicants must have a full manual driving license with no more than 3 penalty points. A full, valid C1 license is required for the role.

Fork Lift training will be provided upon commencement of the role if not already obtained.

Selection Process

  • Candidates will need to attend an assessment centre in London (End of March 2021 and times TBC).
  • If successful, you will be invited to interview on Microsoft Teams (online) 2-4 days after the assessment centre.

This role covers a 24 hour period of deliveries therefore the post holder will be required to cover shifts on nights, weekends and during public holidays.

This role will be based at our brand new warehouse at Segro Park, Rainham, RM13 8HY from June 2021 but the role will initially start at Deptford, SE8 5HY to help with the transition from one site to another.
