Job summary

We have an exciting role for a Band 5 RMN within Enfield Mental Health Inpatient Services, which is located on the Chase Farm Hospital Site.

Are you a dynamic, forward-thinking Nurse, If the answer is yes to this then this could be the role for you. You must be able to demonstrate commitment and passion for delivering outstanding care and have the drive and ambition to provide safe, quality, and patient centred care to our service users, families, and their carers. The post holder will work closely with the team approach within a friendly team.

Main duties of the job

  • To assess, plan, implement and evaluate client care needs supported through a robust preceptorship or personal and professional development programme linked to the Trust's implementation of the Knowledge and Skills.
  • To co-ordinate the individual's assessment and subsequent care plan as agreed with the multi-disciplinary team.
  • To contribute to supporting the deputy ward and Ward Manager.
  • To support the maintenance of high standards of cleanliness in their own clinical area.
  • The post holder will adhere to Trust policies, Data Protection and Health and Safety.

  • To participate as an effective member of the MDT and be responsible for the development and facilitation of a patient centred approach to care: assessing, developing, implementing and evaluating the care needs of patients and their carers (supported by a preceptor as appropriate)
  • To ensure that statutory and legal requirements of care are incorporated safely within each patients programme of care.
  • To observe the requirements of the Mental Health Act 1983 ensuring the patient is fully informed of their legal position and their rights under the Act.
  • To interpret the significance of clinical observations, act upon them, makeavailable information to senior nurses and medical staff.
  • To determine nursing priorities and plan patient care accordingly including full risk assessment, inform the Nurse in Charge when changes in circumstances may affect standards of care.
  • To meet the physical, psychological, social and cultural needs of the individual and their family, using research based knowledge and skills to maintain the individuals identity.
  • To recognise the needs of the family/carers, ensuring their involvement in care where appropriate whilst offering support and education with empathy.
  • To ensure that due regard is given to the customs, values and spiritual beliefs of patients.
