The post offered is that of Consultant Psychiatrist in General Adult Psychiatry (10PA), to join the excellent MDT on Trent Ward. This is one three mixed gender adult psychiatric wards located within the Dennis Scott Unit, Edgware Community Hospital. Trent ward is embedded within the Hospital Services division. The ward is a 21-bed mixed gender acute adult psychiatric ward at the Dennis Scott Unit, Edgware Community Hospital. The ward has 21 beds, however there are internal arrangements to cover the two outstanding beds thus the post holder will be responsible for 16 beds.

Main duties of the job

Admissions are mainly from the Place of Safety, Accident and Emergency Departments, medical wards within General Hospitals, police custody and the community. Patients admitted to the ward informally are subject to a "gate-keeping" assessment by the Crisis Resolution & Home Treatment Team. In addition, the ward accepts stepdown patients from the PICU located at Chase Farm Hospital.

The main purpose of the ward is to ensure the comprehensive, timely and efficient assessment, diagnosis, and treatment of all patients with a clear focus on achieving a safe return to treatment in the least-restrictive setting back in the community as quickly as possible. This involves the proactive anticipation, evaluation, and resolution of all potential impediments to early discharge of the patient.

This is an exciting time to join the Trust as there are many opportunities to contribute to the organisations' development and contribute to service redesign.
