Job summary
Band 6- Learning Disabilities Occupational Therapist. Six months position to cover maternity leave. Full time hours 37.5 Integrated Learning Disabilities Service. As a Specialist Occupational Therapist your role will be to manage and provide comprehensive and effective occupational therapy assessments and interventions to the clients on your caseload. The successful applicant will be working in a friendly multidisciplinary team.The successful applicant will be given opportunities to develop their specialism and relevant interests for CPD. The post is based in the newly refurbished Enfield Highway Carnegie Building, Integrated Learning Disabilities Service. Main duties of the job
The provision of comprehensive and effective occupational therapy assessments and interventions to clients living in the community thus promoting independence, safety and enabling people with learning disabilities to live healthy lives and prevent hospital admission.
The OT Assessments and interventions provided will be within the Learning Disabilities remit and so will often be specialised.
The post holder will be required to work on their own acting independently within appropriate guidelines and professional code of conduct, referring to their manager as required.
Whilst providing intervention in the community the post holder will be responsible to plan and risk assess the individual and their circumstances to minimise risks. This is to ensure the safety and security of you, the client and the public as clients may be vulnerable and present with behaviours that prevent them from safely accessing ordinary community facilities.
Provision of relevant training to others as part of the Learning Disabilities OT role.
