Job summary

The post holder will have a job plan balancing the needs of clinical and operational team management and clinical interventions. You will have skills in assessing and treating young people referred with mental health problems, neuro-developmental issues, conduct disorder and special education needs. You will have close ties to other health and social care providers and education services.

The SCAN service Supports children & young people with severe learning disabilities and neuro-developmental disorders, who attend specials schools, where the degree of impairment is significant and coupled with mental health difficulties including severe challenging behaviour. SCAN works closely with the Cheviots (Enfield Children's Social Services), Paediatricians, and Special Schools.

The STAY project works with young people with special needs and behaviour challenges and for whom there is a risk of home or special school breakdown and admission to hospital or residential school/placement.

This post is based in a supportive multi-disciplinary team working with sound working relationships with other professionals. The service is committed to evidence-informed practice, young people's participation and utilising outcome measures is essential.

Main duties of the job

This role is to manage and lead on the service provision and development of Enfield CAMHS within the SCAN & STAY service. The role includes having a clinical caseload providing expert therapeutic intervention, as well as the leadership and management of the service. This role is supported by job planning along with support from other managers and clinical leads within Enfield CAMHS. The post holder has overall responsibility for the delivery of the service provision and for implementing and reviewing systems, policies, standards and procedures that ensure the provision of high-quality services within frameworks agreed by the Trust and the Commissioners . The role is also a member of Enfield CAMHS senior management / leadership team and may be responsible for work related to other teams within the service.

Education & Qualifications

Essential

  • Registration with relevant health professional body
  • Post-graduate doctoral level training in clinical psychology (or its equivalent for those trained prior to 1996) as accredited by the BPS, including specifically models of psychopathology, clinical psychometrics and neuropsychology, two or more distinct psychological therapies and lifespan developmental psychology, as accredited by the BPS, Systemic Family Therapy and Child and Adolescent Psychotherapy
  • Membership of HCPC or UKCP
  • Evidence of continuing professional development

Desirable

  • Qualified ASD training, i.e. ADOS
  • Accredited supervisor training
  • Teaching / Mentoring qualification
  • Management / Leadership qualification

Experience And Knowledge

Essential

  • Clinical experience as a registered healthcare practitioner within community Neurodevelopmental / Learning Disability CAMHS
  • At least 2 years post qualification experience at Band 8a or higher in a children / young persons mental health setting.
  • Experience of providing psychological therapies to children, young people and their families with a wide range of moderate to severe mental health problems in the community
  • Experience of child safeguarding procedures and how these apply in community CAMHS
  • Experience of developing clinical practice
  • Experience of exercising full clinical responsibility for clients' psychological care and treatment, both as a clinician and also within the context of a multidisciplinary team/care plan
  • Experience of clinical audits and developing action plans for improvement
