Job summary
Advanced Clinical Practice is an evolving area within acute medicine and across the integrated and urgent care specialties. Drawn generally, but not exclusively, from a background of nurses, AHP's and other relevant professional backgrounds. In Barnet we are developing this level of expertise to be based within our Primary Care Networks, working within GP surgeries offering the first point of contact with people identifying with mental health issues or with a diagnosed mental health condition.
Main duties of the job
The post holder with have a demonstrable clinical portfolio that evidences clinical skills equivalent to that of a senior clinical member of staff. Their clinical role will involve the independent and autonomous practice of history taking, clinical examination, clinical investigations, and interpretation and subsequently the diagnosis and management planning of the differentiated and diagnosed patient as well as the undifferentiated and undiagnosed patient seen in settings such as Primary Care Networks. This will be in line with Agenda for Change.

The successful applicant with be an established leader able to demonstrate success in service design and delivery in relevant services within but not exclusive to Mental Health settings. They will already be at consultant practitioner level in an established service.
The successful applicant must have completed an MSc in Advanced Clinical Practice (or equivalent) and have consolidated fully academically and clinically.
The successful applicant will be responsible for the leadership, management, and strategic development of the Mental Health Offer (with ACPs or MHPs) within Primary Care Networks within Barnet and within the Barnet Mental Health services Directorate. This will be overseeing all enhanced (ECP) and advanced (ACP) practice staff, both trainees and qualified, as well as supporting educational supervisors and engaging directly with Higher Education Institutes (HEIs) for the delivery of academic modules. In addition, this will include Mental Health Practitioners based in the Primary Care Networks (PCNs) in the borough of Barnet.
The successful applicant must have an in-depth understanding of the advanced practice apprenticeship. They must also engage fully with Health Education England and support any future relevant curriculums and credentials that are released

- Current registration with NMC, HCPC and or other statutory body
- Specialist Practitioner
