Job summary

The post-holder will work as a member of the Therapies team within the forensic directorate in the Specialist Division, part of the Barnet, Enfield and Haringey Mental Health Trust. This post is part of an initiative to improve the quality and culture as well as the therapeutic offer available in the forensic inpatient and community services.

The post carries a specific remit to lead the Family Intervention work within the forensic service as well as working with the ward and community teams to develop an awareness of referral and intervention processes. To work within a multi-disciplinary group of clinicians who will have ad hoc input into working with families to ensure they have the necessary skills, support and appropriate referrals.

Main duties of the job

  • The post-holder will be responsible for ensuring the systematic provision of a high quality specialist family intervention service within forensic inpatient and community services. This will involve coordinating and screening referrals and delivering and co-facilitating short term family interventions, and to provide individual and group supervision within multi-disciplinary teams, where appropriate.
  • The post-holder will be responsible for providing consultation to clinical teams as well as direct support and interventions with referred families and service users.
  • The post-holder will be expected to work collaboratively, and with MDT members including the provision of joint assessments with other clinicians.
  • The post-holder will supervise family intervention work by other professionals and provide.
  • The post-holder will provide training, supervision and support to other clinician who work within the family service as well as supervising junior member of the therapies team where appropriate and directed by the Head of Therapies.
  • The post-holder will be expected to work autonomously within professional guidelines and exercise responsibility for the systematic governance of the family service within NLFS.
