Job summary
As we develop a new integrated autism pathway across Haringey, this developing role will be part the multi-disciplinary team that supports autistic young people and adults with complex needs. The aim of the new pathway is to create better health outcomes and provide more proactive support to reduce avoidable admissions, support a timely discharge from hospital, keep people in the local community through help with navigation and through providing skills and support to mainstream mental health services (eating disorder, personality disorder and clinical psychology) to keep people well and improve health outcomes for our autistic residents.
This role will be to provide Occupational Therapy interventions to adults with a diagnosis of autism (without a Learning Disability) who live in Haringey. This includes the provision of Occupational Therapy assessment and therapy for individual service users, including those with complex mental health conditions, their carer's and their families. As well as the case finding element of the role, the post holder will be expected to provide a consultation, training and support for the wider systems and organisations providing care for our clients including the delivery of staff-centred interventions for people with Autism.
Main duties of the job
This role is to undertake specialist occupational therapy assessments to service users with high functioning autism referred to the teams based upon the appropriate use, interpretation and integration of complex data from a variety of sources. To formulate and implement plans for the formal occupational therapy treatment and/or management of a client's mental health problems, based upon an appropriate conceptual framework of the client's problems, and employing methods based upon evidence of efficacy, across the full range of care settings.
The postholder will also evaluate and make decisions about treatment options in consultation with care teams, taking into account both theoretical and therapeutic models and highly complex factors concerning historical and developmental processes that have shaped the individual, family or group.
You will also provide specialist occupational therapy advice, guidance and consultation to other professionals contributing directly to clients' formulation, diagnosis and treatment plan of service users with high functioning autism.
