Job summary
Barnet, Enfield & Haringey Mental Health Trust seeks to appoint a Consultant General Adult Psychiatrist to the post of Sussex ward.
The vacancy has arisen due to the previous post holder decided to move to another role in the community after working on the ward for 3 years.
The postholder will be based at Sussex Ward in the Chase Building, on the Chase Farm Hospital site and will be responsible for the clinical care of patients on the ward.
Sussex Ward is an 17-bedded male-only treatment ward. Patients will normally be residents of the borough of Enfield but will also receive patients living in other boroughs of the Trust.

Main duties of the job
This is a full time in patient Consultant Psychiatrist post on Sussex ward based in Chase Farm Hospital Enfield. The vacancy has arisen due to the previous post holder decided to move to another role in the community after working on the ward for 3 years.
Sussex ward is a 17 bedded male open ward provide services to the borough of Enfield. There are two inpatient open wards on site, Dorset ward (mixed ward) and Suffolk ward (female ward). It has an excellent MDT comprised of medical staff, nurses, social workers, psychologists, occupational therapist and specialist substance misuse workers.

The post-holder will provide clinical and professional leadership to the Team and will take part in management activities related to the post and the wider service within which it is embedded.
The Consultant will take the lead on ensuring service users have a comprehensive assessment, risk assessment and management plans and safe prescribing of psychotropic medications.
The post holder will participate and lead daily patient management meetings, providing consultation to the wider MDT on patient management.
The consultant psychiatrist is expected to establish good working relationships with discharge intervention team, Access and flow team and locality community mental health teams.
The post-holder is expected to demonstrate willingness to be flexible in altering the timetable according to service needs and to be actively involved in providing leadership and management to the service.
