Job summary

Band 6 Rotation Occupational Therapy

We are a friendly, supportive, growing OT community who report high levels of job satisfaction. We offer professionally led services, a B6 developmental training programme, in-service team training, effective supervision and external training opportunities through the Trust.

There is a maximum of £6,500 contribution towards relocation fees for new staff moving to work for the Trust.

We are offering an exciting opportunity for a highly motivated Occupational Therapist who wishes to develop a wide range of specialist skills with community services. We are looking for a creative, friendly and enthusiastic OT to join our new rotation. The services are located near Enfield Town, with easy commuter links from central London/Hertfordshire.

You will have the opportunity to gain expertise and knowledge within four specialist OT services: Rapid Access, Children and Young People, Community Stroke Rehab and Inpatient Older Adults Rehab (including stroke/neuro). Each rotation is 10 months.

Main duties of the job

Your job will be to provide specialised assessment and intervention to a designated caseload of clients within each service. You will work along side the MDT on integrated pathways and with multi-agency partners.

You will provide person centred, occupationally focused input. working within the available evidence based and good practice guidelines.

This role includes participating in service development and in-service training provision.

The successful candidate will be committed to occupationally focused, person centred and evidence-based care.

A car driver/owner is essential for some of the rotations.

Rotational Service Information:

Childrens & Young peoples service: To work with a range of children aged 0-19 years providing high quality individual occupationally focused assessment and intervention. The role includes group work (e.g., football club, Arts and Craft group) training sessions for schools and parents, equipment provision for the under 4 years, Joint Motor Coordination Clinic with the physiotherapists and an opportunity to work within Special schools. You will have the opportunity to provide evidence-based therapy including CO-OP, M-CIMT and Occupational Coaching.

Rapid Access Services: To work with adults and older people in the community offering short term intensive support within the three sub-services of Discharge to assess; Rapid Response and Virtual Ward. You will provide complex assessments and interventions and will make high impact clinical decisions. You will be expected to work as an autonomous clinician whilst working closely with senior nurses, social workers, therapists and other health care professionals to establish and maintain a whole systems approach for these patients.

Magnolia Inpatient Rehab: Magnolia Unit is an inpatient rehabilitation service which aims to provide short-term inpatient rehabilitation for multi-pathology and Stroke/Neurological admissions. Patients admitted to the service are encouraged to attain optimum physical function, independence and exercise maximum control over their lives. Discharge Planning is coordinated to ensure that patients have the appropriate support or equipment that is needed. Appropriate onward referrals to other services are made to support patients following their discharge out of Magnolia Unit. During this rotation, you will have the opportunity to work with the therapy team for ensuring the provision of an exceptional standard of Occupational Therapy service, in conjunction with the multi-professional team on the unit. You will have clinical responsibility for a caseload of inpatients completing comprehensive assessments and planning / delivering interventions towards achievement of their goals. You will play a key role within the discharge planning and safe discharge achievement of inpatients. You will also be involved in service development and education / training opportunities as well.

Community Stoke Service: To work with adults aged 18 and over who have had a stroke. Working with the multidisciplinary team, and families/ carers to achieve the functional goals that are most important to patients in their own homes and communities. Providing rehab throughout their stroke journey from early supported discharge for people being discharged from hyper acute stroke units to re- referrals from people who had strokes years before. Training opportunities include multidisciplinary in services in collaboration with the inpatient neuro rehab unit at Magnolia and community therapies.
