Job summary
The post is for a full-time consultant working 8 PAs in Enfield Memory Service (as Memory Service Lead) and 2 PAs in Enfield Care Home Assessment Team (CHAT).
This is a new post combining both an existing 5PA consultant post in the Enfield Memory Service and two PA post in the CHAT service, ultimately boosting Consultant time in the memory service and opening up the opportunity for diagnostic home visits. Main duties of the job
Enfield Memory Service:The post-holder will provide clinical leadership for Enfield Memory Service. Enfield Memory Service operates a "floating Consultant model" with assessments being carried out in the main by non-medical and junior medical members of the team, with consultant input to provide diagnosis and the management plan towards the end of the appointment.
The post holder will be involved in this model. The post holder will also be involved in checking head MRI/CT scan reports and ensuring those patients have had their follow up organised appropriately.
Enfield Care Home Assessment Team:
The Care Home Assessment Team is an integrated mental and physical health team of Community Matrons, Geriatricians, Consultant Psychiatrists, Mental Health Nurses, occupational therapy, a phlebotomist, a tissue viability nurse and pharmacists.
The aim of the wider team is to support care home residents and staff and local GPs. To prevent hospital admission and placement breakdown where possible. To support advanced care planning and end of life care in the preferred place of death, often in the care home setting. The mental health branch of CHAT works to assess, diagnoses and treat both functional presentations of mental illness and those relating to dementia.

- On the GMC Specialist Register for old age psychiatry or within six months of obtaining a CCT
- Training and clinical expertise in assessment, diagnosis and management of older adults with cognitive impairment and mental illness. Also knowledge of the Mental Capacity Act and safeguarding procedures.
