We are delighted to be able to offer the opportunity of joining our innovative Barnet Personality Disorder Team as a Band 7 Clinical/Counselling Psychologist .
Our service offers direct treatment using the Mentalization Based Treatment (MBT) model, in addition the service provides Consultation & Liaison to support mental health services for adults across the borough.
Our team is an active member of the National KUF HUB and is providing regular training across BEH.
As part of the nationwide transformation of community mental health services, our team is working closely with the Barnet Psychology Hub, who provide psychological assessment and intervention to patients across the borough and offers psychologist's access to supervision and further training.
Main duties of the job
- To provide psychological treatment, including assessment, treatment and evaluation of group and individual work for patients within Barnet Personality Disorder Team
- Undertake assessment of emotional and psychological needs of patients referred to the team
- Formulate and implement appropriate treatment plans and provide Mentalization-Based Treatment (MBT)
- Liaise with other professionals to contribute to the establishment of continuity of care across the service
- Undertake the supervision of students and staff.
- Undertake psychological/research/audit as per the Trust research strategy
- To undertake delegated management responsibilities when needed

Essential
- Doctoral level training or equivalent in Clinical Psychology specifically including models of psychopathology, two or more distinct psychological therapies and lifespan developmental psychology as accredited by the BPS
- Registration with the Health Care Professions Council as a Clinical psychologist.
- Experience of working in the NHS undertaking specialist psychological assessment and treatment of clients across the full range of care settings, including outpatient, community, primary care and in patient settings.
- Experience of working with a wide variety of client groups, across the whole life course presenting problems that reflect the full range of clinical severity including maintaining a high degree of professionalism in the face of highly emotive and distressing problems, verbal abuse and the threat of physical abuse.
- Doctoral level knowledge of research methodology, research design and complex, multivariate data analysis as practised within the clinical fields of psychology.
- Skills in the use of complex methods of psychological assessment, intervention and management frequently requiring sustained and intense concentration.
- Well-developed skills in the ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing, complex, highly technical and/or clinically sensitive information to clients, their families, carers and other professional colleagues both within and outside the NHS.
- Skills in providing consultation to other professional and non-professional groups.
- Ability to contain, explore and formulate an understanding of high levels of distress both directly with patients and indirectly via supervision of other staff.
