Job summary

A rare vacancy has arisen for a Band 7 Physical Health Care Practitioner to join our Specialist Services line of Barnet, Enfield and Haringey Mental Health NHS Trust. Specialist Services provides forensic care for a wide catchment area, namely Camden, Islington, Haringey, Barnet and Enfield.

In our pursuit to develop physical healthcare, we are looking for a creative and enthusiastic Registered Nurse who is passionate about working with complex services users. The successful candidate whom should already be operating as a Band 6 or above, will drive the design, the development and the efficient delivery of a range of health promotions and wellbeing programmes. These programmes will require specialised skills to ensure engagement whilst focusing on long-term conditions and men and women's health.

Specialist Services have 12 in-patient Forensic wards and a 24 bedded Low secure residential based service in collaboration with a private provider. Forensic Service (NLFS) which works with an ethnically diverse population with a high level of psychiatric morbidity and social deprivation as well as forensic community settings.In addition, the post holder will be working in a locked environment with patients detained under the 1983 Mental Health Act (amended 2007), many of whom suffer from a severe and enduring mental illness which may present itself at times in challenging behaviour to others or the environment.

Main duties of the job

  • To provide direct clinical and managerial supervision to 4 Physical Health Support Workers and Band 6 Health & Wellbeing Practitioner and support the Advanced Physical Health Practitioner to ensure effective supervision and line management structures are in place and provide day-to-day management for the Physical Health/Wellbeing team members.
  • Work collaboratively across disciplines, and partners to enhance the impact and sustainability of the health and wellbeing strategy.
  • Represent and present the work at the Service Wide Physical Health Forum and contribute to the development of a shared vision and strategic direction for the health and wellbeing strategy.
  • To develop data sets with Business Manager and be responsible for the accurate collection, review, and presentation of the datasets to inform the health and wellbeing strategy and report against SDIPs and local KPI
