Job summary
Barnet CAMHS Service for Children and Adolescents with Neurodisability (SCAN) has an exciting opportunity for a Learning Disability Nurse to join this warm and welcoming team. The SCAN team is a multidisciplinary team providing assessment and treatment for children and young people with Neurodisability and learning disability. This post is part time 0.8 WTE for a Learning Disability nurse to join the team carrying out assessment and treatment in clinic, community and school based settings.

Main duties of the job
JOB SUMMARY:
The post holder will provide advanced mental health support and treatment for the Children and young people referred to the Barnet SCAN service. They will be expected to deliver a high-quality innovative service for young people and their parents and carers, using research and good practice guidelines providing:
- Timely assessments and interventions appropriate to the needs of young people and their families.
- Responsibility for a case load of patients and the delivery of a range of interventions with a flexible, Positive Behaviour Support informed person-centred approach within a complex mental health and learning disability service
- Close working, advice and support to schools and specialist schools, social care, the wider CAMHS and other agencies working with this group across a variety of settings.
The post holder will co-ordinate referrals to other agencies and work with other agencies to prevent the need for hospitalisation and to ensure that those young people who have in-patient treatment are in hospital for the shortest possible time. They will support the coordination of transfer of patients to the Barnet Adult Service.
