This is unique opportunity for an enthusiastic, creative and experienced Clinical Psychologist to contribute to developing and leading an innovate service for 0-25 year olds at risk of or involved in youth violence. The post will be based in Enfield and is part of the London Vangaurd - a national pilot commissioned by NHS England and the Violence Reduction Unit to address serious youth violence using health based approaches.

Main duties of the job

The postholder will be responsible for overseeing the delivery of the Enfield London Vanguard site, ensuring that the clinical and strategic priorities are met. The postholder will provide high level clinical leadership across the service, managing a small team consisting of a Clinical Psychologist, three Specialist Youth Practitioners, a Parent Worker and an Assistant Psychologist. The postholder will develop opportunities to offer consultation to non-psychologist colleagues, professionals and carers within the young people's network, working autonomously within professional guidelines and the overall framework of the pilots policies and procedures. The postholder will be responsible for the development of opportunities to work alongside young people with lived experience to coproduce creative activities and social action projects. Embracing new ways of working will be key, as the model constantly evolves to respond to the needs and aspirations of young people it serves. The postholder will be required to utilise research skills for audit, policy, service development and research in order to evaluate the service and provide evidence for further service development.

About us

The post holder will have the opportunity to develop a service based on the principles of Community Psychology, Mentalisation and Narrative Therapy principles drawing upon support and guidance from other senior clinicians who have developed similar services in BEH e.g. Project Future.

  • To oversee and support the team to provide highly specialist psychological and psychometric assessment, formulation and intervention including risk assessment and the development of risk management plans to Haringey London Vanguard service users in individual, group or family settings.
  • To routinely utilise theory, evidence-based literature and research to support evidence-based practice
  • To provide clinical supervision to the Clinical Psychologist and where agreed locally, to provide clinical supervision to other multi-disciplinary team members for their provision of psychologically based interventions.
  • To provide consultation and training to other professionals as required.
  • To receive regular clinical supervision and line management from the London Vanguard Consultant Clinical Psychologist (BEH).
  • To provide supervision, advice, consultation and training to qualified and unqualified psychological therapies staff, students and trainees working within the pilot
  • To contribute in an active way to the network of services for young offenders and to ensure the co-ordination of services provided. This will involve working closely with colleagues from other agencies.
