Job summary

An exciting opportunity for a highly motivated individual to develop the Occupational Therapy service within the Enfield Advisory Service for Autism.

You will sit within a dynamic multi professional health and education team working in an integrated approach delivering services to families and educational settings with autistic children from 0-25. The office base is within easy commuter links from central London/Hertfordshire. Relocation fees of up to £6,500 are available to new staff moving to work for the Trust

Previous experience of working as a children's Occupational Therapist with Autistic CYP is essential for this post. In return we are committed to offer a professionally led service, support from a Clinical Lead Occupational Therapist, effective supervision and opportunities for ongoing professional development.

Main duties of the job

To support educational settings and families to meet the occupational needs of autistic children and young people.

To provide high quality, evidence based universal and targeted training and intervention packages for educational settings and families.

To support schools and settings to develop resources and support packages for families.

To develop clinical expertise within this specialist area, establishing an evidence based clinical pathway and service provision.

The successful candidate will be committed to occupationally focused, child/young person centred and evidence-based care.

EDUCATION AND QUALIFICATIONS

Essential

  • Dip. COT or BSc OT or international equivalent.
  • HCPC registered Occupational Therapist.
  • Evidence of Continued Professional Development.

Desirable

  • Member of BAOT
  • Manual Handling

EXPERIENCE AND KNOWLEDGE

Essential

  • Extensive postgraduate clinical experience of Occupational Therapy.
  • Extensive relative experience and practise in Children's Occupational Therapy within educational settings and the community.

Desirable

  • Experience in high level clinical audit.
  • Good Knowledge CMOP-E and COPM.

SKILLS AND ABILITIES

Essential

  • Excellent communication skills both oral and written, including the ability to liaise and negotiate.
  • Ability to plan and deliver appropriate intervention programmes in collaboration with CYP, carers and education staff.

Desirable

  • Appraisal skills.
  • Team leadership skills.

PERSONAL QUALITIES

  • Ability to meet the demands of the post including travel.
