Job summary

Sunflower ward is an inpatient assessment ward

The medical staff consist of 1 consultant Psychiatrist, and one junior ward doctor and one trust grade doctor, the latter of which will be the post holder.

The post involves working with General Adult Inpatients who may be informal or detained under the mental health act the focus of the service is assessing these patients and managing their mental health needs.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will assess these patients in meetings and liaise with families and community teams via the CPA process.

The post holder will assess the inpatients, document and work with the MDT to provide formulation and plan on-going treatment and investigation. This will include assessment and documentation of patient's risk for self-harm or harm to others. The post-holder will review progress of the patients and share responsibility for making clear documentation during ward rounds, and multidisciplinary meetings.

The post holder will work with the multidisciplinary team of nursing, psychology, and administrative staff and there is the opportunity to develop an understanding of the role of those professionals in psychiatry services.
