Job summary

Barnet, Enfield and Haringey Mental Health Trust are looking to recruit a Band 6 registered mental health nurse, within the specialist eating disorders service based at St Ann's Hospital. The service provides inpatient, outpatient and day programme services for patients across a large area of London. The post holder will work as a member of the day programme team, providing care and treatment to patients who are working on recovery from an eating disorder, addressing patients' physical and mental health needs.

You will have the opportunity to work within a dynamic multi-disciplinary team and use nursing skills in variety of different settings and with a variety of complex needs. You will have the opportunity to gain knowledge and experience in this specialist field and work alongside a knowledgeable, passionate and dedicated MDT, active in research, education and training. Specialist training and professional development, learning and teaching opportunities are integral to the post.

Main duties of the job

The day programme is a recovery focused service offering a full-time intensive group programme. Your role will include holding a caseload of patients with diverse and complex needs and taking responsibility for the physical health management of patients on the programme. You will also be responsible for planning and facilitating therapeutic groups and offering meal support for patients as part of the programme. Other responsibilities include working closely with and deputising for the day programme manager as required, supervising, teaching and instructing junior staff, including students.

You will have strong engagement and motivation skills, excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, self-management skills and the ability to work effectively in a team. We are looking for a dynamic individual who approaches challenges with creativity and enthusiasm and has a passion for helping individuals make life changing steps towards recovery and management of their eating disorder.
