We are looking to recruit a qualified Family & Systemic Psychotherapist (Band 7) to join Haringey CAMHS. The post is located in Generic CAMHS, a multidisciplinary team offering evidence informed interventions to children up to age 18 and their families, identified as requiring a specific and targeted support to address mental health and emotional wellbeing need.
The post holder will contribute a systemic perspective to the MDT and carry a varied clinical caseload, offering specialist systemic psychotherapy, alongside generic assessment, and brief interventions. You will have the opportunity to join a weekly family therapy clinic and contribute to interventions, such as the NVR parenting group and MBT-C, in line with service need and your interests and experience.
This is an exciting time to join the service, as work progresses to transform the way services are delivered for children and young people, drawing on the principles of the Thrive approach. We are seeking a highly motivated Systemic Psychotherapist who is passionate about improving the health and well-being outcomes for vulnerable children and their families. You will join a committed and friendly service and be supported, through regular contact with the team manager and clinical supervision by a senior family therapist.
This post is currently established as a full time post but we will consider applicants interested in job share or working part time.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will join the Generic CAMHS team in Haringey CAMHS and work with children and young people with a range of complex mental health needs, and their parents/carers, families and significant others. You will contribute to the work of the multi-disciplinary team (MDT), offering mental health assessment and generic interventions, alongside specialist family and systemic psychotherapy. The post holder will contribute a systemic perspective to the MDT and offer specialist advice, consultation to CAMHS colleagues and professionals in partner agencies. In addition, you will contribute to clinical supervision and training, as required and in line with experience.
In the context of the current COVID-19 restrictions, a proportion of clinical and other work continues to take place through online platforms.
About us
The London Borough of Haringey, covering Tottenham, Wood Green, Hornsey, Crouch End, Muswell Hill and Highgate is situated between the inner city areas of Hackney and Islington to the south and more suburban areas of Enfield and Barnet to the north and west. There are areas of relative affluence in the west of the borough and areas more typical of the inner city neighbourhoods to the east.
Haringey Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service (CAMHS), which forms part of the Child Directorate within Barnet, Enfield and Haringey NHS Trust, is a large inter-agency service comprising the range of multi-disciplinary staff. The service operates a single-point of entry for Haringey CAMHS, known as CAMHS Access and works closely with key partners in the Third Sector, as well as other health providers.
CAMHS clinicians are based in the various teams across the service including: generic CAMHS, the Health and Emotional Wellbeing Service (HEWS), the Adolescent Outreach Team (AOT), CHOICES, the Trailblazer School Team, and the specialist mental health service for children and young people with a learning disability (CAMHS-LD). All teams share an office base at St Ann's Hospital. The service works with children, adolescents and families in a variety of settings; in the clinic setting at St Ann's, other Health settings, within the family home, schools and children's services settings.

To undertake risk assessment and risk management relevant to individual patients including protective and risk factors present in the network of significant relationships. This will also include assessment of risk for self-harm
- To work jointly and collaboratively with other multidisciplinary team members in order to enhance and develop work with families by providing highly specialist systemic knowledge an
- To provide highly specialist consultation, advice and guidance to other professionals at all levels working with families both within the service and in partner agencies. This will include liaison and work with professional networks involved with complex issues, such as those involving child protection, children accommodated and living away from home, self-harm, violence, trauma and suicide
- To communicate effectively and in writing and to provide reports where deemed appropriate e.g. Child Protection Conferences, concerning highly complex circumstances. To be able to undertake complex and comprehensive assessments and refer on with CAMHS, to mental health services or to other agencies such as Education and Social
- To maintain current knowledge of the operation of video equipment and to introduce this practice to families in a sensitive manner. To use video tape review to enhance the skills of colleagues in the systemic psychotherapy clinic and to help parents understand their childs difficulties, dilemmas, and traumatic experiences.

- To advice the Family & Systemic Psychotherapy Lead on all aspects of the service where systemic and organisational matters need
- To co-operate in the expansion and development of Haringey CAMHS and the implementation of the ongoing service
Research and Service Evaluation
- To use theory and research to inform evidence-based practice in work with individuals, families and their networks in line with current and best

CONTINUING PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT
- To receive clinical supervision in accordance with Trust clinical governance standards and the codes of practice and ethical guidelines of Association for Family Therapy (AFT) and United Kingdom Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP).
- To contribute to the development and maintenance of the highest professional standards of practice, through active participation in internal and external CPD training and development programmes, in consultation with the Family Therapy
