You will join a friendly, supportive, highly skilled and committed multidisciplinary team, who value psychological input. This is an exciting opportunity for you to be involved in a team which delivers evidence-based interventions and works with people aged 18-65 for up to three years.
As a team psychologist/ CBT therapist you will be able to work flexibly and innovatively alongside other team members in providing comprehensive psychological assessments and interventions to adults with mental health problems and their families in the community. The role also involves providing supervision, formulation, consultation and supporting MDT colleagues to develop their competencies in the application of psychological ways of working with service users and their carers.
You will be expected to take a role in service evaluation and audit and to contribute to service development, including supporting co-production projects and initiatives. We are keen to support creativity and holistic approaches to mental health care within the team and value innovative ways of working.
Enthusiastic and adaptable, you need to enjoy working both independently and collaboratively as part of a diverse team. You will need to have knowledge and skills in providing CBT for psychosis interventions to service users and their families and also have an interest in providing teaching and supervision to your MDT colleagues.
Main duties of the job
- A psychological therapies service across all sectors of care in line with qualifications in the person specification, providing:
- Direct provision of therapies covered by NICE guidelines and the National Standards for Early Intervention (including CBT, CBTp and other models and model-informed treatments in line with qualifications and training) to individuals, families or groups.
- Highly specialist assessment.
- Advice and consultation on clients' psychological care to non-psychological therapist colleagues and to professional and non-professional staff in mental health services individually and through:
- Joint delivery with other members of the team to assist engagement.
- Joint therapeutic work (i.e. between a psychological therapist and another team member).
- Input to team and multi disciplinary meetings.
- Structured internal supervision or consultation groups, and reflective practice.
- Professional skills to:
- Work autonomously within professional guidelines and the framework of the service's policies and procedures.
- Provide supervision and teaching to mental health service staff.
- Use their core professional training for some or all of the following purposes: research, undertake audit and contribution to policy and service development.
- The post holder works with a client group with serious and enduring mental illness on enhanced CPA, as part of the multidisciplinary Early Intervention Team.

Essential
- Doctoral level training in clinical or counselling psychology, including specifically models of psychopathology, clinical psychometrics and neuropsychology, two or more distinct psychological therapies and lifespan developmental psychology as accredited by the BPS. Or Post-graduate Diploma in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (or an equivalent course which provides eligibility for accreditation) Registration with the Health and Care Professions Council as a psychologist. Or Membership and accreditation with British Association of Behavioural and Cognitive Psychotherapy.
- Eligibility for Chartered Status with the BPS.
