This is a part time post of Consultant Psychiatrist in the South Enfield Core Community Mental Health Team, part of Barnet, Enfield and Haringey Mental Health Trust (BEH MHT) and based in Lucas House in Edmonton, Borough of Enfield. The vacancy has arisen due to the previous post holder taking on other responsibilities within the Trust.

The South Locality Team is one of the two Core Community Mental Health Teams (North and South) that together cover the borough of Enfield. It is an MDT comprised of medical staff, nurses, social workers, psychologists and specialist substance misuse workers responsible for the care of patients requiring secondary mental health services.

The job description is awaiting college approval.

Main duties of the job

The post-holder will have the opportunity to provide senior medical leadership as the service develops, playing a central role in ensuring that changes are designed and implemented to improve services available to the local community.

Clinical Work and leadership.

  • To provide senior medical input into the care of patients accessing care in the team including psychiatric assessment, diagnosis and management.
  • To act as Responsible Clinician for patients treated under provisions of the Mental Heath act including CTO (currently 6 patients) and Section 41 (5 patients at the moment). To assess and make recommendations under the MHA and to provide legal reports which may arise. The post holder is required to be approved under Section 12 (2) and hold Approved Clinician status
  • To provide leadership and to take responsibility for the delivery of key performance indicators (KPIs).
  • Participation in Care Programme Approach (CPA) as appropriate, including patient review, multidisciplinary meetings related to CPA, training and medically relevant clinical documentation.
  • A willingness to be flexible in altering the timetable according to service developments.
  • Involvement in providing leadership and management to the service, and participation in the clinical governance processes of the service and service line.
  • To ensure appropriate clinical documentation.

  • There are weekly academic meetings, currently on a Wednedsay afternoon and delivered via MS Teams.

  • Membership of the Royal College of Psychiatrists or equivalent
  • Full GMC Registration
