We are looking for creative, enthusiastic and motivated Band 7 Therapist to join an innovative, supportive and welcoming team in an exciting and collaborative post.
This position is in West Lea school. West lea school provides 'Learning for Life' for pupils aged 4 - 19 with special educational needs. The school's aim is to equip each pupil with a 'suitcase' of skills to help them progress onto further education and into the world of work.
One of the school's central aims is to:

We will work to ensure that each child has a 'voice' and the ability to communicate, which will open the doors to further opportunities, such as socialising, being active and more independent, which will in turn promote the child's feeling of security and self-esteem.'
You will join a team of 3 whole time equivalent Therapists working across the three sites of the school and will take the lead on the learning for life campus. The team work closely together to support the staff , pupils and parents develop functional communication skills across all areas of school and home life.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will be responsible for the development and provision of an effective highly specialist speech and language therapy service for children at West Lea School. Children who attend West Lea may also have eating and drinking difficulties.
The post holder will have excellent team working skills and be adaptable and flexible. The post holder will provide regular joint training to education staff or other members of the speech and language team.
He/she will be expected to work collaboratively with: children/young people (CYP) to ensure that they are actively involved in setting goals and planning their care, parents/carers and with colleagues in Health, Education and Social Services in planning and delivery of services.

EDUCATION & QUALIFICATIONS
Essential
- Recognized Speech and Language therapy degree.
- Registration with the Health Professions Council for Licence to Practice.
- Registered member of the Royal College of Speech & Language Therapists.
- Accredited Elklan Trainer or willing to be trained.
Desirable
- Attendance at post graduate training courses appropriate to area applied for.
EXPERIENCE & KNOWLEDGE

- Well-developed knowledge of the use of informal methods of assessment within the classroom.
- Ability to analyse and interpret results in relation to theoretical and clinical knowledge of individual clients, developmental norms and curriculum Levels, with specific emphasis on implications for access to the Curriculum.
