This is a new permanent role created to help us deliver our plans to transform our community mental health services, as part of the NHS Long Term Plan. The transformation of our community mental health services will lead to truly integrated health and social care for adults in Barnet, Enfield and Haringey who have serious mental illness.
Our transformation plans are supported by £25m in funding and will mean the roll-out over the next few years of multi-disciplinary teams of experts working within the new Primary Care Networks and offering wraparound, holistic care to our service users and wider community. Our aim is to support the whole person as they live with, or recover from, mental illness and to offer them support with other challenges they may face, such as debt, relationship problems, housing, education or training. We will also focus resources on reaching those who currently face obstacles in getting the help they need.
Main duties of the job
We are looking to recruit a Clinical/Counselling Psychologist to take a key role in service development in Haringey Community Services. In line with the NHS Long Term Plan for Mental Health Haringey Community Services are committed to developing a Trauma Informed approach to the delivery of care. You will work with the Consultant Psychologist Trauma Informed Lead to support the development and implementation of a trauma informed system of care across community services. The role will include offering training, staff supervision and reflective practice; supporting the development of co-production; leading on a programme of audit and evaluation; and supporting the embedding of trauma informed principles in clinical and team practice.
This is an opportunity to support Haringey Community Services in transforming the way that our organisation works for staff and those who use our services. We aim to develop a trauma informed model that works for Haringey and co-produce a training and consultation programme to support the embedding of trauma informed principles across the division.
0.3wte (1.5 days) of your time will have a clinical focus working in our newly developed multi-disciplinary service for those with mental health difficulties and adult autism. You will work under the supervision of our Haringey Psychology Lead designing and delivering the psychological aspects of the intervention programme.

Essential
- Doctoral level training or equivalent in Clinical or Counselling Psychology including specifically models of psychopathology, two or more distinct psychological therapies and lifespan developmental psychology as accredited by the BPS
- Registration with the Health Professions Council as a Clinical or Counselling psychologist.
- Completion of clinical psychology supervisors training or be eligible to undertake it.
Desirable
- Post graduate training in one or more additional specialised areas of psychotherapy practice.
- Accreditation in Trauma focused model of therapy (particularly Trauma focused CBT, EMDR or Narrative Exposure Therapy)
- Training in Trauma Informed models of care
- Training in psychological approaches to working with adults with Autism

- Experience of specialist psychological therapy assessment and treatment of clients across the full range of care settings, including outpatient, community, primary care and in patient settings.
- Experience of working with a wide variety of client groups, across the whole life course presenting problems that reflect the full range of clinical severity including maintaining a high degree of professionalism in the face of highly emotive and distressing problems, verbal abuse and the threat of physical abuse.
