Job summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a highly motivated individual to join our established team of older people's psychologists in Barnet, to make a significant contribution to the development and operation of a new service as part of the NHS long-term plan for transforming mental health services. You will be working closely with statutory services, Primary Care Networks and partnership agencies from voluntary, community and social enterprise organisations (VCSEs). The aim will be to develop a service that links mental health needs between primary and secondary care provision, while maximising working relationships with VCSEs to ensure clients receive seamless services, delivered in the most appropriate and suitable setting in a timely manner. While there will be essential clinical psychology interventions drawing from assessment, formulation and evidence-based treatments, a key aspect of the clinical role, will be service development, sharing psychosocial skills with colleagues, including those employed in the VCSEs, to assist in delivering evidence-based psychologically informed interventions such as therapeutic groups. You will be part of the Community Mental Health Teams' Psychology Service, where you will receive management and clinical supervision, as well as peer support. The position would suit an experienced clinical psychologist looking for an exciting clinical challenge involving service development.
Main duties of the job
A key aspect of this role will be service development through working closely with the mental health transformation programme. You will work with key staff within BEH employed to transform services as well as VCSEs and PCNs within the borough of Barnet in order to develop the provision of psychologically informed services to better meet needs of older people in the community. This will involve actively developing frameworks and pathways to services; managing/supervising junior members of team; working jointly with VCSE staff to deliver psychologically informed groups and providing supervision to support individual interventions, thereby creating joined up pathways between providers. To contribute to the development of the evaluation process across the borough, including identifying appropriate outcome measures, collecting and analysing the data and disseminating findings to key stake holders within BEHMHT and local VCSEs.
