Job summary
We are looking to appoint a Trust Doctor (Core Trainee equivalent) to work in the acute psychiatric inpatient unit based at Edgware community Hospital. The post is a fixed term position until 03/08/2021.
Trent ward is a mixed gender acute psychiatric ward with 18 beds. The ward provides assessment and treatment for patients who cannot be safely managed in the community by our Crisis Resolution & Home Treatment Teams. This includes a significant number of patients detained on Sections 2 and 3 of the Mental Health Act.
The ward serves patients residing in the London Borough of Barnet, although may also receive some referrals from the other two boroughs within the Trust.

Whilst this is not a training post we are providing you with the opportunity to develop your skills and competencies in psychiatry with the aim to assisting you in gaining the necessary experience to apply for training posts within the region. The duties of the post, performance criteria and the learning opportunities are matched against the learning outcomes based on the curriculum competencies for Psychiatry specialities.

The successful post-holder will be joining a dynamic and passionate team with strong consultant and nursing leadership. The purpose of the post is to provide skilled clinical care to patients in the acute psychiatric ward. This post will give the successful candidate a unique opportunity to gain experience in General Adult Psychiatry, particularly from an acute assessment & treatment perspective. There will be opportunities to attend local educational programme.

- Full Registration with the General Medical Council (GMC) with a current licence to practise from the GMC at intended start date
- MRCPsych or equivalent
- A minimum of 3 years full time post graduate training (its equivalent gained on a part time basis) or equivalent experience and competencies in psychiatric specialties
